So sick....

Poor Becca has been sick for the past 3 days. I got a call on Wednesday after I got back from a fieldtrip that she had a fever and Joe had scheduled a doctor's appointment. When I picked her up she looked miserable. Her little eyes were red, runny nose, and she just wanted to be held. She did not like going to the doctor either. Of course it didn't help that we were there for about an hour. Her patience was wearing thin by the end. This could also be due to the fact that they stuck a swab up her nose to test her for the flu. She definitely screamed on that one!
Thankfully she didn't have the flu. The doctor said her throat was irritated and put her on Tylenol and an antibiotic to fight the infection. Her fever finally broke this morning and she started acting like herself again.
It is so hard to watch your little girl cry and cling to you because she feels so bad and you are helpless. We had to go back to the doctor yesterday because she was throwing up what she ate and she wouldn't even drink the Pedialite (though I can't blame her). She wasn't keeping down the Tylenol so they gave me another alternative to help keep her fever down. I must say that I never thought I would be able to handle it when my child threw up and everyone always told me that it is different when it's your child and they are right. I just felt sorry for her and was able to handle the smell and everything! The past three days she didn't want to be put down at all. She wanted to be held and would only take naps in my arms. I enjoyed it the cuddles, but I'm really glad she is starting to feel better!!!

First Marching Band Contest

Becca went to her first marching band contest yesterday. I am continually amazed at how much stuff we have to take with us to be gone all day. Bottles, food, blankets, diapers, pjs, Bumbo, stroller, etc. We no longer just get up and go to a football game or competition.
Becca had a great time all day yesterday. She took about an hour long nap in the morning before we had to be at the high school for practice. She sat in her stroller under a tree while Joe and I were running practice. At one point she was singing and waving her arms like she was conducting. It was really cute. She has really started noticing her hands this week and waving her arms at people. We have been working on waving high and bye-bye.
She did exceptionally well with the traveling. Our first contest was only in Columbus, IN so it wasn't too long in the car. She slept most of the way there and spent a lot of the day in her stroller. She proudly displayed her band shirt. It said CHS Band on the front and Becca #1 Fan on the back. Again, while Joe and I were with the band, thankfully Rachel, Michelle, and Cathy watched Becca. They said she was a hoot. I think she is a "ham." She is always squealing and smiling at everyone. They said she especially like the boys as well. I think that she is a people watcher. We were standing by the water station for the marching bands and she was just quietly watching all of the band members go by.
I was amazed that she was in a great mood all day. She started getting fussy when I tried to put her in her carseat again, but it was because she was so exhausted from missing her afternoon nap. She slept all of the way home and stayed asleep in Joe's office while we unloaded everything and dismissed the kids. However....when we got home around 11:30pm, she decided to wake up and wanted to play. I was not amused....but then you look at her smiling face and hear her babbling and you can't help but smile. She finally ate again and went to back to bed around 12:30pm.
She was in a great mood all day yesterday, but today was a different story. She was so tired and cranky all day long. I think all of us were though! :)

Dude you're going the wrong way!

Becca has started to get up on her knees and rock back and forth. She gets so mad and frustrated because she can't go anywhere and her arms get tired. However, she has started crawling backwards a little. Joe always says "Dude, you're going the wrong way." She just looks at him and laughs. I finally was able to capture a picture with her on her knees. My guess is that she will be taking off soon!!! Watch out!!

Labor Day Weekend

I finally have time to sit down and write about our busy Labor Day weekend as well as this past week's activities. Becca went to her second high school football game the Friday before Labor Day. It was the first home game in which we didn't have rain. I actually got pictures of this one. Becca had a lot of fun playing with Rachel, our Superintendent Dr. Steele and many other students and band parents. She really enjoyed watching the drums play and would tap her little had to the beat. She watched daddy play the drums as well. She lasted until the end of the 3rd quarter and then she started rubbing her face on my shoulder and tugging at her ear (her way of telling me...okay mommy I'm tired, it's time to go). I love the fact that I can still help with the band during halftime and not have to worry about Becca because she is in great hands and she is pretty comfortable with anyone.

The next day Becca went to see Mamaw and Papaw Allen. She had a lot of fun at their house and her cousin Anna and Aunt Jen made her smile a lot. It was great to get to spend time with Joe's parents and to catch up. It had been awhile since they had seen Becca. She actually got up on her knees for the first time. Jen helped her while I took pictures. She also got to experience mashed potatoes for the first time while we were there. She didn't seem to like them very much though. Maybe as she gets older she will appreciate the taste more. Papaw and Mamaw also gave Becca some a spoon with some pots. Wow....she loves making lots of noise! It was a blessed weekend and Becca loved spending time with everyone!

After spending Saturday night at Mamaw and Papaw's house on Sunday we ventured over to Aunt Leslie and Uncle Nate's house. They live in Nashville, IN in a log cabin. It is such a beautiful, quite place. Becca really showed her true colors at Aunt Leslie's. She was going crazy. I think she really likes to hear her voice and she loves to lift her butt up and kick her legs. It was great to spend time with family and see everyone. Tyler, Meghan's little guy, is getting so big! He is so cute and I love his head of red hair.

After all of the traveling, on Monday (Labor Day) we ended up having the CHS Marching Band Section leaders over to our house for a cookout. It was a lot of fun. We have such a great group of leaders and it was nice to have them over. Becca ate her food outside with us and had some fun with the kids. She especially likes the boys. I'm not sure if I should be worried about this yet or not! LOL. :) It was a great weekend!
