Nerves

So it has been interesting how Becca and Emily interact.  Becca makes me nervous when around Emily because she is such high energy.  I sometimes lay Emily on a blanket on the floor with some toys and try to interact with her, but with Becca running around it scares me.  We are trying to teach her to be careful, but she doesn't fully understand.  Tonight was our first mishap.  I had Emily on the floor and Becca decided to climb into the laundry basket I had next to me.  She said she wanted to lean down and kiss Emmy and proceeded to do this.  However, her weight made the laundry basket topple over and both she and the basket landed on Emily's head.  Talk about being scared! I know these things happen, but I always worry about the girls getting hurt.  Emily cried a lot, but seems to be okay.  Sometimes these things are hard to handle....especially on 2 hours of sleep and my nerves already being frayed from trying to learn how to manage two kids.  It seems like Becca and Emily both need me at the same time, especially close to bed time.  I feel weak saying this is hard to manage, but we all learn as time goes by! The Lord is constantly my strength, especially with no sleep.  Just ask Joe, I don't do well with no sleep! :)

Emily's 2 week check-up

In two weeks, Emily has already started changing.  I knew that she liked to eat, but still worried that she wasn't getting enough.  I don't need to worry anymore.  We went to her two week check-up and she now weighs 9 pounds.  That is amazing since she was only 7lbs. 9 ounces a week ago.  She is really thriving and doing well! Now if she can only get her days and nights figured out, we will be doing well!! :)

Minnie Mouse

Becca has started really getting into playing dress up.  She loves wearing hats and making daddy and mommy wear hats with her as well.  Thanks to Aunt Meghan, Becca now has another outfit that she loves to wear every day.  She wears her Minnie Mouse tutu and dances around the house.  It is so cute! :)  She is always singing and dancing.  The amazing thing is that she sings on pitch and sings the melodies exactly right.  The words aren't always correct, but the melody is always there!

Welcome to our family Emily Renee!

I realize I am so behind and haven't blogged for awhile.  Our lives have been so busy though that time at the computer has not been a priority.  Before Emily was born we had concerts and programs and trying to get everything done at school and ready for Emily was time consuming.
We are so excited to announce that Emily Renee was born Monday, April 4, 2011 at 12:21pm.  I ended up going to the hospital at 6am to be induced.  It was a short labor, which was nice! :)  I am always amazed at the miracle of birth.  God fashioned this child before she was born.  The fact that the babies know what to do and how God thought of every little thing just amazes me.  Everything went really well and Emily came out hungry! The first night she ate every hour....or so it seemed!  Right now she still seems to have her nights and days mixed up, but we are working on fixing this.  She likes to eat every 2-3 hours.  Many people have said that she looks like Becca, but there are noticeable differences.  Becca's head is more oblong and Emily's is more round.  Becca also had little hair that was blond, whereas Emily was born with a full head of dark hair.  We have truly been blessed with two wonderful little girls.

Becca woke up with crazy hair!

Becca has transitioned well from being the center of attention to having to share the spotlight with her sister.  We had a rough first week, lots of tantrums and not understanding that mommy and daddy can't necessarily meet her needs right away now.  She also wasn't sure about this new little "thing" that we brought home.  However, now she always gives Emily kisses and says "Hi Emmy," or "Good Morning Emmy."  She loves making funny faces at her sister and sings her many songs.  People told me that Becca would look a lot bigger to me once Emily was born, and they were right.  She looks huge now! I thought she was a tiny little girl before, now she is my big girl that loves to sing, talk, and laugh.
Emily "Emmy"
It has been a learning experience for me as well trying to manage two kids on little sleep.  I'm learning to let things go around the house.  Everything just can't get done.  This frustrates me because I like things neat and want to get everything done, but spending time with the girls and trying to rest right now are more important.  Here are some pictures of Emily and some other pictures from the past two weeks that I've needed to post for awhile!
